INTEGRAL PRACTICE

(reported by Forest Jackson)

Due to the widely applicable nature of Integral Practice (also known as Integral Transformative Practice), the IP domain is expected to be a high traffic area of Integral University. Whether one simply wishes to enact an integral lifestyle, or to apply the framework of an Integral Practice to a specific field, this domain will be the nexus of exploration, development, and discussions geared towards plugging Integral Theory into everyday life—integral theory and practice in the fabric of your experience.

Indeed, transformative practices of many types have existed for thousands of years. However, the budding tip of conscious evolution appears to be moving toward an authentic and pragmatic integration: exercising the best ancient, modern, and postmodern practices, thus providing essential injunctions for healthy transformation. In other words, there are many practices out there, but what happens when we enact several of them at the same time? Which are the best practices for specific goals? How do the individual practices affect each other? And just how much time and effort do we need to give each practice within an IP?

Questions like these are being investigated by a team of dedicated practitioners in the emerging field of Integral Practice—a team led by Mark Palmer, Program Director of Integral Institute. Within this domain of Integral University, you will be able to hear engaging discussions between Ken Wilber, Mark Palmer, and other leaders, which concretize the leading theory in this domain. You will also have full access to in-depth essays and articles which elucidate the details of the multivalent theoretical issues involved in Integral Practice. Moreover, at least once a month you will have the opportunity to engage with the host and co-hosts of the domain in conference call discussion sessions or live online chats.

In response to the overwhelming interest in actual physical seminars, the Integral Practice domain is currently planning the premier presentation of the Integral Practice Seminar to be held in the Boulder area in the Fall of 2004. (An announcement concerning the precise details of this event will be released shortly.) Thus, you will soon be able to join the IP team, Ken Wilber, and an array of top-notch experiential leaders in the first extensive 6 day seminar offered on an AQAL approach to an Integral Practice.

Until that time, these things will be happening (though in a slightly different form) in the virtual space of IU, so you need wait no longer than the initial launch of Integral University to get involved. At this time, the launch of IU is scheduled for mid summer of this year.

Stay tuned to this bulletin board for news of further developments in the IP domain....
