'States and Stages' Sunday!

This Week on Integral Spiritual Center:

Sexual Energy into Light - Sally Kempton

Dear Friends,

We are incredibly blessed to have Ken in great spirits and better and better health!  One of his top priorities upon his return has been to resume the extraordinary discussion that has taken place around his latest book, Integral Spirituality.  We at ISC have been deeply honored to have pre-released the book on our site last year, and to have hosted an incredible series of discussions with you, our dear members, and Ken--the man who wrote the book!

And so I'm excited to announce that the IS Discussion Series will continue this Sunday, January 14th at 10AM, Mountain time!  The topic of this call will be Chapter 4, "States and Stages," which has been an extraordinary insight of Ken's, with profound implications for understanding the spiritual journey.  Ken has been developing the concept in the rewriting of Transformations of Consciousness, and will share some of his latest thought!

The live web stream is open to all ISC members.  To listen in, just visit our Live Calls page, where the link to will be posted Sunday morning at 9:45AM.  If you can't join us then, just watch for the audio to be posted on the site in the coming weeks.  We hope you can join us for the incredibly important discussion....

States & Stages are always associated with Zen in KW's writings. While Zen and Taoism is one of my favorite disciplines, Christianity also can be included in states and stages of consciousness. I have not seen anyone equate AQAL to Christian consciousness. Jesus taught about the "many mansions prepared for us." While this is pre-modernish, I believe he taught states and stages of consciousness within the Kingdom of Heaven, which is here and now.

Check out Jim Marion's Putting on the Mind of Christ, as a place to start for integral treatment of Christianity.

The call just wrapped up, and wanted to thank all the participants and their questions, and Ken for his indomitable Spirit! We are blessed to have you sharing your insights and stories!!

States and Structures really gets to the core of so many integral issues. So this was a real keeper! 3.5 hours long, with 1 hour of intros, and 2.5 hours of Q&A. It really teased out a lot of interesting subtleties, too, and clarified some important Wilber-5 refinements (e.g., states initially being planted on top of leading edge structures through Wilber-4, and now being seen as a "horizontal" complement to "vertical" structures, i.e., the Wilber-Combs Lattice).

Many thanks to all of you, and SO glad that you're feeling better Ken (that lisp really seemed to disappear over the 3.5 hours, had to laugh early on at the comment about your lisp affecting your "s" and the topic being States and Stages! What a trooper....).

Sending warm metta to all,

Paul

I missed the call! Feels like missing the super bowl. So glad that Ken is back in the saddle and getting better. My request would be that as much the 3 1/2 hours as possible is realeased and posted. I value it all. Thanks.

Dear Friends,

I was very delighted that through his December ordeal Ken not only has not forgotten anything from our prior call-conversation on the stages and states but also that he has now integrated the "transversal axis" of a/the Self Sense that we discussed in our call. In that call I asked Ken whether or not we need to posit, besides stages and states of the Wilber-Combs Lattice, a third, axis of existential stages of self-transformation, and I called the third axis of self-transformation the "transversal"  axis that is, an axis that runs transversally to the horizontal states and vertical stages of the Wilber-Combs Lattice. That transversal axis neither replicates the stage-development, which is evolutionary, nor states-intensities, which can occur at any stages and move in both directions of the intensity of consciousness. Existential spheres, as I undersatand these from Kierkegaard and similar authors, are not evolutionary transitions like the stages, nor are they just intensities (dual, nondual, etc.) of conscious states. Rather self-transformations are more like vertical leaps or what some call "singularities". This singularity within spiritual development is also what Kierkegaard meant by spirit or spheres of existential self-transformation.

I am glad Ken has integrated this existential transversal axis into his integral spirituality model of stages and states as his own. It would be great to continue the conversation, I would love to do so.
