    Renaming Seventh Circle

I don't get the name.  Shouldn't it be First Circle, since our unhighest selves came before our highest selves?  And, why circle?

I have a few light-hearted suggestions for renaming this section:

    Seventh Square

    Seventh Triangle

    Seventh Oval

    Seventh Vector

Seventh Line Segment  (a line goes on forever, but a line segment has an end, representing the stunting of growth of a disowned voice.)

    Seven of Nine

    Anarchists' Corner

    The Hot Spot

    Road Kill

    Sinners' Section

    Shadow Lurker

    What do you guys think?

    I'll tell you this - It's something new everytime I tune-in....

Who's responsible for this naming travesty?

How about "Belly of the Beast" or "Bowels of the Beast" or you could just stick with "Seventh Circle" but add Jerk to the end....

Why not just call it: Shadow Play ? Essentially, that's what it's for, yes?

    Re: Renaming Seventh Circle

Um, it's the seventh IN forum.  And it has something to do with Dante.  Not the goateed dude from Clerks.

The travesty is mine.  If you want to throw down, we can step outside.

    Everybody's a *** critic, Corey. Forget it.

PLEASE can we turn off the language filter? If it's anything like the last forum, it's fairly simple, no?

Listened to some of your remixes today. I loved the revamped soggy bottom boys.

If you ever turn off the language filter I'll need to edit this post.

i'm not sure what was happening during the last few days, anyways the invisibility thingy could be cool, so that this section wouldn't get mixed up with other sections of more serious nature

and is it intended that one cannot edit one's posts in this section?

    Re: Renaming Seventh Circle

Gavin, is it all the same word, or different curses? Just curious.

Yeah, even in the seventh circle (nearest thing I can come up with is that I'm a "virtuous pagan" according to the diagram), sometimes we'll want to fix spelling errors. I'd like to have the edit function, too.

    Re: Renaming Seventh Circle

Liz, I think the language filters a fine. And I also fully appreciate the genius idea of the Seventh Circle.

But as for language filter, I think we need to take wider perspective here. This is finally the real deal as far as I-I goes. There is a real reason (or many on many levels, including some shocking ones on the Subtle) why language needs to be tempered.

This is the emerging culture of Integral and this is a Google-able forum. It perfectly reasonable to try and control to some, at least minimum, extent that the content people will find here IS coming from the Higher or Highest Self possible.

I will offer my own perspective. I was a "lurker" at Integral Naked for some time before I finally posted. And a large part of the reason for that was the initial impression I took from the content. I also had a bad experience with the Shambhala KW forums, which as far as I am concerned is nothing but a bunch of supreme weirdos and idiots who, all I can figure, read Ken becasue they are kooks, not becasue they have any profound understanding that can help anyone with anything except the road to Hell.

Seeing **** in place of *** or *** is fine. The mind fills in the blank but the heart appreciates the attempt to make things half way decent -in, sure, blue ways- but blue, remember, is the foundational structure for everything and anything higher.

I am more that happy witht he language filters.

(Last statement for the lurking people at I-I.)

    Tim

PS, NOW what we really need is a SPELL CHECK! (for the correct spelling-ly or typing-ly challenged like yours truly.Embarrassed [:$])

    Re: Renaming Seventh Circle

I see your point, and disagree. Really, there's nothing here, swearing-wise, that isn't ubiquitous elsewhere in the media and on the street. Sometimes the right word is f*ck or sh*t or whatever.

Spell-check is great when I'm in a hurry, but it's no replacement for proofreading. In fact, misspelled words are far less distracting to me than people who've obviously used spell-check, but have used the wrong words anyway. (I'm seriously typing challenged, too. Just ask Arthur, who was driving me crazy by correcting my spelling when I was typing on his computer. My karma come back to me!) But some folks need it. Being able to spell is not tightly correlated to the quality of one's thoughts and can be a drag for the spelling-challenged and those who have to read them alike.

Wow, this is some seriously tame *** for the seventh circle! LOL.
