• Re: The 1,2 and 3 of Manny

Hey, lovely vid Ambo! You're right, that cute little kid has natural balance and coordination, its a pleasure to watch him with that ball. Let's hope he keeps it as the years go by and doesn't lose touch with that freedom and spontaneity.... This discussion triggers a scepticism I have, often expressed over the years ...

Hi again Ambo and all Been away a while, fun to catch up with some of these threads... I was watching the golf from over here, small hours of the morning. Its true, that was one amazing putt, an act on another level because of the focus it took. It did seem to have the effect of briefly raising consciousness, in Woods himself and

  • Re: Epitaphs

I was cuddling my baby great-niece Lily May at Christmas (my niece's daughter, right), and she was gazing with round eyes into mine. And I thought, you know, Lily, I might not be around when you grow up, and all that will remain of me for you will be some fading rumours of an uncle David who loved you. But still, we're ...

Hi there Ambo Long time since I was here, I trust you're well and happy... Its a tricky one for me, as my wish is to be scattered in some favourite place and have no tombstone which could be written on. If I did have a tombstone, though, I think I'd sum up my now departed life in an exclamation mark. ...

  • Re: The Very Next Word

Hi Jess & Ralph ralphweidner: i've been interpreting 'higher self' fairly liberally to mean the highest i am able to reach, or actually be, at a particular time. sometimes that doesn't seem to be very high, but i feel i have to work with whatever is available. Thanks for re-visiting this old thread! I still wonder about ...

  • Re: Dead Forever?

balder:branching happens organically out of a discussion in which mutual listening has been taking place. It's an intuitive or associational leap, and I agree with Ambo that allowing for this can make the board more fertile, friendly, and fun. Spamming is treating a thread like a graffiti board -- posting unrelated ...

Indeed. A question for the forum, then: what's the difference between spamming and branching?

  • Re: Dead Forever?

Balder and Tim balder: the issue isn't so much about going off topic, as it is about demonstrating that you have the intention and the capacity to listen to others. Yes. That's the point I was making: the vitality of the forum depends almost entirely on that intention and that capacity. Example: Balder ...

  • Re: Dead Forever?

Here's a thought, folks: I've been enjoying the conversation on this thread - I mean, Ambo is incapable of being boring, he's such an exemplar of self-awareness, and the stuff about the movies caught my interest, while as a Brit I have no idea what an 'Elks Club' is, so that piqued my curiosity too... Yet: why is it OK for the thread ...

ralphweidner:david, i'm glad to know you haven't left. it looks like it may still be awhile before all this is sorted out. ralph Hi Ralph, Ambo and all Well, I look at it as a fallow period, you know - not much growing but at least when shoots appear they'll have a better chance! I've been here all along, though I pretty much ...
