New Forum! Casual Conversation

Friends,

We have added a new discussion board to our collection. Check out the "Casual Convesation" forum for, um, casual conversation...

We're taking it down a notch here from the ridiculous heights of abstraction achieved elsewhere (nothing personal, Balder, but one can get a bit dizzy). Some members, perhaps including yourself, have told us they'd like to put before this community of Integral-minded folks questions or thoughts that may not themselves be inherently AQAL, Integral, or spiritual, and we were more than happy to oblige.

So jump in and let your hair down. Take advantage of the great crowd with whom you're sharing this space. Wax poetic on music or cooking. Tell us your thoughts on the weather or the new season of Lost. Who do you think should play Ken in the movie of Grace and Grit? What is your son-in-law doing buying a car that color? The answers lie within.

Nice idea, iiwhatsnew.  Threads dedicated to chit chat and chewin' the fat have been some of the most popular ones on the IN forum, as I'm sure you're aware.

I'll join in after I get over my chagrin.  The first time I'm "officially" noticed by I-I, and it's for achieving ridiculous heights of dizzying abstraction!

OK! I'llo try it. This is my first posting, even though I've been browsing II for a few months. I want to get other's notions about this:
Let's assume that the current path of humans on this planet is headed into a climate that will snuff out humanity by the year 2100, unless drastic measures are taken. What changes to our (all humans) behavior:
Have any hope of being made? (Given the news reaches every adult and they are convinced of it truth—in other words: we all know our survival is at stake.)

A few week ago I read that an international forum of Earth and Life scientists concluded that renewable resourses of this planet are being consumed at a rate 20% greater than they can be replenished. Thst's whatg brought me up short.

The first thing I did was assume step one was to reduce human population by 20%. But, I immediately got scragged by the question "Which 20%?" Well, of course, the "kindest" first choice would be to select the groups that contributed most to the consumption of renewable resources: Weapons producers? War prone populations? Those who consume the greatest portions of our resources?

By now I'm completely boggled, and have started wondering if I've simply "Lost it".

Help!

Hi Jim

That kind of topic would get more traction in the forums, rather than added to a blog comment.  Perhaps in the "casual conversation" section of the General Forum:

http://multiplex.integralinstitute.org/Public/cs/forums/20/ShowForum.aspx

Or perhaps somewhere in Integral Naked, if you have a membership there:

http://in.integralinstitute.org/Public/Forums/default.aspx

You are raising some great points; I watched AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH yesterday, and it's scary stuff.

spiral out,
arthur
